ATLANTA (February 3, 2012) Demaree and Brian Walker are the new regional owners of Tradebank of Lake-Sumter, a franchise outlet of Tradebank International Inc. (Tradebank) that offers business owners a way to barter goods and services to save cash. The Walkers acquired the reins of the Lake-Sumter outlet from Tait Carson, regional owner of Tradebank of Orlando. Carson was recently honored with Tradebank’s highest honor in recognition of the most outstanding level of excellence achieved in the operation of outlet in 2011.

“Brian and I are excited to introduce Tradebank to business owners in this beautiful place we work and live,” said Demaree. “We are looking forward to building our new endeavor and are especially glad to be adjacent to Orlando’s booming barter operation which is a huge benefit for our current and prospective clients.”

“Additionally,” added Brian, “since Tradebank has a seasoned network in 15 other states as well as internationally, we expect barter activity within our outlet to grow exponentially.” Brian will primarily be responsible for the management of new business development for Tradebank of Lake-Sumter.

The Walkers have a background in the publishing business and are current owners of LAKE Magazine, Lake and Sumter Counties’ award-winning lifestyle magazine. “We believe our current LAKE clients will see our addition of Tradebank as a value-add,” Demaree said. “Bartering in the media industry is fairly common (from billboards, magazine ads, trade show promotion, etc.) and we see Tradebank as a great way to enhance what we’re offering at LAKE.” Benefits of trade include:

•	New business on a continuing basis
•	Lowers overhead costs
•	Conserves cash flow
•	Increases profits
•	Referrals from clients bring new cash customers

“Brian and Demaree Walker will do an excellent job in introducing barter to business owners throughout the Lake-Sumter region.” remarked Todd Gerry, president of Tradebank of International Franchising Corporation. “Both are passionate about helping others.”

Tradebank is a global trade network that assists companies of all sizes to convert what they have into what they need using a means of exchange called the Tradebank Dollar (T$).
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Contact: Fitzgerald PR 770.887.6060
debbie@fitzgeraldpr.com

PANAMA CITY, FL (February 1, 2012) Experienced barter experts have launched Tradebank of Panama City, the newest franchise outlet of Tradebank International (Tradebank), a 25-year old international trade exchange. Teresa Holley is the regional owner of Tradebank of Panama City and is excited to assist companies across a variety of industries to increase sales and conserve cash while still obtaining the products and services they need to run their business. This announcement was made today by Todd Gerry, President of Franchising for Tradebank International Franchising Corporation.

“I have received positive responses to our service offerings so far because many of the business owners in Panama City already know how to barter,” stated Holley, who has been involved with Tradebank for more than 12 years in Georgia. “The barter experience that Tradebank has to offer is much more than the one-on-one bartering experiences they’ve had in the past. I look forward to teaching business owners that there is a more sophisticated way to go about bartering which will produce greater benefits.” Holley has signed more than 30 new members and has two other sales personnel to help her continue building the barter activity in the city and provide excellent customer service.

Holley is a current resident of Panama City. Prior to her move, she lived in Atlanta, Ga., and worked as regional owner of Tradebank of Atlanta East and Southwest. She was initially introduced to Tradebank when she was the owner of a restaurant. She enjoyed her barter experiences so much as a member the first year she told business friends about it, and soon after, had 18 people interested in joining. At this time, Holley had realized the barter industry was where her career was headed. Her second year with Tradebank transformed her from member to seller of the business in Atlanta.

Holley’s father, Steve Watson, is also a barter advocate and regional owner of multiple Tradebank outlets. Being a barter expert runs in the family. Watson whole-heartedly supports Holley in her mission to build a large trading market within Panama City. “Teresa will also be busy promoting the city as a travel and entertainment destination for all of Tradebank’s members,” said Watson. “She understands the business inside-and-out and will do well.”

“We look forward to welcoming Panama City businesses to our Tradebank network,” stated Gerry who is helping to oversee a smooth transition of the recent launch. “Not only can Panama City business owners trade within their own region, they can buy and sell products and services on trade from other Tradebank members located throughout the U.S. and Canada”

Benefits of Trade:
	New business on a continuing basis
	Lowers overhead costs
	Conserves cash flow
	Increases profits
	Referrals from clients bring new cash customers

by Marcy S. Yaffe, VP of Trade, Tradebank International

Sharon Ingram, Tradebank Barter Client and owner of Mud Puddle Pottery Studio and Harpeth Art Center Gallery in Pegram, Tennessee recently introduced two artists to the benefits of barter through Tradebank.

Chris Hailey is a renowned stained glass and metal smith artist and Carla Christina Contreras is a published author of children’s books, actress and creator of exquisite embellished photography.

I met Chris Hailey on my most recent visit to Nashville and his work is refined, detailed and unique. You can feel the love and pride he puts into developing each piece. Whether it is in the form of a table, room divider, windows or accent pieces, you see his talent and passion. His custom stained glass and leaded glass has been installed at Nashville landmark, Monell’s at the Manor and serves as breathtaking backdrop for wedding photographs and diners alike. Hailey also teaches classes at Harpeth Art Center.

When discretionary funds are limited, Tradebank enables art enthusiasts to add to their home and business collections without a cash outlay. Of course, the artists are appreciative of the the added revenue in the form of trade dollars. The work produced under the Harpeth umbrella of artists is diverse, distinctive and made with love and true talent. Each time I visit the Tradebank of Nashville office, it must include a trip to Harpeth Art Center.

By Vincent Ball

John Porter calls it the “new” old way of doing business.

“Bartering has been around forever and all we’ve done is take it to a whole new level,” says Porter, president of Tradebank Canada.

“Instead of being a one-to-one exchange, we’ve created a large network for businesses – small and large – to exchange products and services.”

Tradebank arrived in Canada in 1996 and Porter, who owned the Niagara Tradebank franchise, from 1997 to 2001, purchased Tradebank Canada in 2001 and took over as president.

Back then, there were about 700 Tradebank members in Ontario. Since then, the company has expanded into two other provinces with franchisees in Saskatchewan and Alberta, as well as Kitchener/Waterloo, London, Ottawa and northern Ontario.

“I think that with the economy being so tight that businesses were looking for alternative ways of getting things done without spending cash.” Etienne Vaillancourt
Tradebank now has more than 2,500 active accounts and this year plans to add more than 700 new one this year.

The company’s head office is in Stoney Creek and manages a territory that includes the Golden Horseshoe from Fort Erie to Oshawa and Brantford. In Brantford, the company is represented by Etienne Vaillancourt, a trade broker.

“We already have about 50 companies in Brantford and the surrounding area registered with us and about 22 of those have joined since July,” Vaillancourt said.

“I think that with the economy being so tight that businesses were looking for alternative ways of getting things done without spending cash.

“With Tradebank, instead of spending money on printing, advertising, furniture, dining, jewelry or golfing, businesses were looking to trade for what they needed.”

The list of local business registered with Tradebank includes several restaurants, he said.

“Historically, having two companies swap products and services of equal value was the only way to experience the benefits of trade,” Vaillancourt said. “Times have changed.”

Services provided by Tradebank include sending companies new business, facilitating purchase requests and automating the record for each trade transaction. All transactions are credited immediately, so there are no receivables, collection efforts or bad debts involved, he said.

Anyone interested in learning more about Tradebank is invited to attend a Trade University, a seminar being held by Porter and Vaillancourt at Addison’s Brantford Conference Centre, 664 Colborne St. E. on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

The evening includes a dinner.

Economic downturns often lead to an increase in bartering.

Porter said that Tradebank’s business is good when the economy is good and “it’s great when it’s bad.”

Meanwhile, Tradebank has set up a matching funds program to help registered charities obtain products and services from members of the Tradebank Network. When a charity chooses to make a purchase from a participating business, be it printing, advertising, promotional goods or event costs, Tradebank will cover half the cost at the time of the transaction by making a gift from the foundation to the charity.

By Scott Jones

INDIANAPOLIS There is a great way for local businesses to save money, and it is a way that has been around for years. However, most people do not know about it. It is called Tradebank.

Becky Homko owns “Today’s Virtual Services.”

“We’ve all bartered from the beginning,” said Homko. “I’ll give you this if you give me this. It’s a basic concept. Now that concept is a reality helping local businesses.”

We give our book keeping services to one car company called “My Car Doc” and then keep our vehicles maintained. It’s just one of the places where we use our “trade dollars.”

Advertisement: Do you want to make your company or corporate site available on CD-ROM?

Charlene Lawrence is a broker at Tradebank.

“We have so many different businesses, from caterers, mechanics and lawyers,” said Lawrence. “So it just depends on what your needs are. Our company brings all the bartering businesses together, even though we’ve been around since 1987. We don’t want to be the best kept secret anymore!”

Tradebank saves all parties the trouble and process of collection, exchange of goods, or matching the needs exactly with those of another party. In return, they get a small transaction fee. It is well worth it according to business owners like Anthony Ziegler of Credit Card Processing Indiana.

“I had a customer that I traded him $199 in Tradebank dollars,” said Ziegler. “He gave me that. What I did for him, is I gave him credit card processing right above cost and that’s something for a small business they wouldn’t normally be able to get.”

Here’s how it works: The transactions between companies are actually converted to barter credits or ‘trade dollars.’ They function the same way as cash, but companies don’t have to spend their actual cash. Businesses can trade back and forth or strike out with a one way deal. The key is, it’s all “at cost.”

The businesses are trading away their profit margin to get a specific service or just something fun.

“We’ve gone on vacations and stayed in hotels, and gotten our cars repaired, advertised our business and the list just goes on and on,” said Jerry Stevens, owner of Fishers Mail Post. “We provide a service as well, and a lot of people are using their trade dollars too with us at Fishers Mail Post.”

“You do receive a 10-99B for “barter” so it’s sanctioned as OK by the IRS folks, so it’s definitely above the board,” said Lawrence.

Again, if you are interested, the bartering business can be found at Tradebank.

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) – What if someone told you you could do all of your holiday shopping with out having to use cash or a credit card once?

A local company is claiming they can do just that.

Trade Bank is a business to business bartering network that allows business owners to sell their services or products to other people in the network. Instead of getting cash, they get credit towards other goods and services from other participating owners.

Director Dave Jones said they have more than 720 clients and they’re growing.

“Basically anything you want or need is available by bartering,” said Jones.

“We’ve got dentists on trade. I get the oil changed on my trucks on trade, chiropractors there’s everything,” said Tom Kosinski, the owner of Assured Heating and Air.

There are no taxes on services but they do tax goods. Plus you pay a 12 percent fee to the brokering company, but you eliminate store markups.

That’s enough of a discount for many to use Tradebank for all of their holiday shopping.

“I did it last year and I’m doing it again its wonderful,” Sharon Ingram, the owner or the Harpeth Arts Center.

In fact, Ingram is using Tradebank to plan her daughters wedding.

“Even her dress we’re going to be able to get on Tradebank,” said Ingram.

Ingram said, better than that, this new way shop is boosting her own business.

“It gives us so many opportunities to work with so many professional businesses that we have access to through Tradebank,” said Ingram.

“We start getting all these referrals and it just helps your business grow,” said Kosinski.

Don’t Write Off or Write Down That Excess Inventory This Year End!

Many businesses face difficult decisions at the end of every year to write off excess or aged inventory in an effort to have the financial statements accurately reflect the financial position of said inventory. Banks are now performing this every quarter for assets such as mortgages. The progressive opinion of writing assets off will be paying less tax at year end based upon assets on hand. However, the actual write down of said assets lowers your balance sheet and could directly impact your bottom line.

Don’t take that financial hit this year! You have alternatives that will not impact your balance sheet or income statement at all. You have the opportunity to take those assets that have been a balance sheet headache and trade or barter them for prepaid assets such as media. There are many corporate barter exchanges that make trades like these every day and it is an absolute win-win for all parties involved.

A perfect and fitting example of such a trade would be a local bank that is carrying many foreclosed properties on its books nearing the requirement to write down one or more of said properties. This bank might take one of those properties and trade it for the current value on the books for a prepaid asset that might be for marketing, advertising, promotional items, building maintenance or many other items with a corporate barter exchange. This transaction would allow the bank to avoid any reduction in their balance sheet and/or bottom line impact in income. This example uses a bank as the business and foreclosed property as the medium of exchange. Other mediums of exchange such as excess inventory, aged inventory, prior year’s products, products nearing expiration and many other products covering numerous types of businesses are easily replaced with the above example.

While this example sounds great with no apparent downside, it must be said that spending the prepaid assets will require attention and patience. These prepaid assets are not as liquid as cash and might take more involvement to utilize than cash. Despite these facts, it is hard to argue that these creative financial methods would not have the ability to help many businesses in today’s economy.
